Policy

A) for Authors: new authors are asked to send in a sample and synopsis, preferably by email. I will either offer to publish you or not, and sometimes I am slow about it. I run this site as a very personal business. I can't always give you detailed reasons about my decisions, as they are personal and subjective. Isn't reading like that?

B) for Books: Short-run book publication is my new speciality. It is not painless (for me or the author) so I am very choosy about what I publish, and prefer good human fiction. I also have plenty to keep me busy already in the pipeline.

C) for Copy-Editing: manuscripts with more than a total of ten proof-reading errors give me headaches: I see it as the author's responsibility to find a copy-editor (friendly or paid), or tempt me with tangibles.

D) does not stand for Style Guide, but I plan to produce one soon.

These changes involve small differences in the written contracts that will be exchanged. A small clause is being added, asking that 10% of later book sales or Hollywood or television rights income is passed to Fledgling Press for writing first published here. Copyright remains with the author.

All these changes are intended to ensure the long-term viability of the site.
They do NOT affect existing authors, who have helped to get this great wee site going.
