"Horseman of the Veldt" by Malcolm Archibald

ISBN: ISBN 0954412125

"Horseman of the Veldt" follows Drew Selkirk to his first commission, with his own irregular horse group, using the skills he had learned on the farm, and the strategies he had absorbed from stories of the Border Reivers, to take on the Boers in their preferred guerilla warfare. There is real excitement in the developing tale, with its inevitable ups and downs, and some natural sympathy between the Border farmer and the farming families of the Boers.

There is even some romance, full of surprises, and in many ways as realistic as the warring bits.

Horseman follows "Soldier of the Queen" as the second of Malcolm Archibald's Boer War trilogy, backed up by "Aspects of the Boer War", a straight and straightforward historical account of that war.
