We’ve been working with RJ Mitchell
, author of Parallel Lines: The Glasgow Supremacy
and The Hurting: The Glasgow Terror
over the last couple of years, which has been a hugely enjoyable and succesful experience so far. We love his books and working with him, and vice versa (we hope!)
But one of the things we have had difficulty with, is his name RJ Mitchell!
RJ Mitchell happens to share his name with one of the most influential designers from the 20th Century, which makes it a challenge when people search for him or his books. Try it – type ‘rj mitchell
‘ into your favourite search engine and you’ll see what we mean!*
If you know your history, you’ll know that Reginald Joseph Mitchell was the man behind the iconic Spitfire (as well as several other influential aircraft designs). This leads to several (hundred) websites, articles and pages linking to his work – which is the challenge our author RJ Mitchell, and the Fledgling Press team face when trying to promote his work.
One of the method we’re hoping helps in the search results is with his blog
where you can keep up to date with the author himself, read about his books
, the characters from them and even chill out to some of his favourite tracks
. This allows RJ Mitchell to generate relevant content which has his name and what he does in it to be found by your favourite search engine. It also allows you, as a reader, to find out more about him and what he’s doing.
Available from Fledgling Press
This is one of several methods that Fledgling Press can uses to increase the chances of you finding the RJ Mitchell we want you to find, and it is certainly one of the more enjoyable ones. And it gives you an insight into the world of RJ Mitchell, which is very interesting!
So from this, you can gather that it really is all in a name. If you happen to have a famous namesake it can be both a blessing and a hindrance!
If you haven’t read any of RJ Mitchell’s books
, or even his blog – do check them out.
*(Since this article was originally written, RJ Mitchell has moved up in the search engine rankings as a result of the hard work put in by himself and the Fledgling Press team)
